The rituals of inclusion

This session involved two of our regulars explaining and then taking us through a ritual from their tradition.

Everyone was invited to try and enter each ritual in the spirit in which it was offered. Because rituals are participatory, sometimes they can work on us – even if we don’t “believe” the story behind them. Quite early on, during my time attending the Rhythms of Grace church this year, I lit a candle for someone I am close to and had the overwhelming sense that I wished for them to find God – which was terribly odd as I hadn’t found God myself!

The prompts for the structured discussion are below. This week there were no related resources.

Prompts for reflection

What rituals work for you and why?

Do we have enough rituals in modern secular settings?

Could the right rituals help us have the conversations we need to tackle wicked problems like climate change?

What might be the right rituals?
